A Teratological Study on the Effects of Carbon Monoxide Exposure upon the Fetal Development of Albino Rats

Abstract
The teratological effects of acute maternal carbon monoxide (750 ppm, for three days, 7, 8, and 9th day of gestation, 3 hours/day) exposure upon the fetal albino rats have been studied. The following results were obtained:
1) A close correlation was noted between the carbon monoxide exposure and the pregnancy wastage (absorption, stillbirth and anomalies) of the albino rats.
2) A significant depression of the body weight development appeared in those fetuses who had been exposure to carbon monoxide. The crown-rump length also seemed to be affected by the exposure although the difference was not statistically significant.
